American Hustle was a Good Movie

What better way to start the new year out, than with a critically acclaimed movie, filled with A-list actors, that will probably win a lot of awards at the Golden Globes and the Oscars? My thoughts after the jump.

I haven't seen any of David O. Russell's other movies, like The Fighter or Silver Linings Playbook, but I thought he did a great job on this, and now I'm definitely going to check his other movies out at some point.

American Hustle has a lot of things going for it. The acting is good, the story is exciting, and there's a lot of comedic elements. This is really more of a dark comedy, I'd say. There weren't any parts of the movie where I felt like it was dragging, either. This movie is fast-paced and demands your attention. A few parts seemed a little confusing, but by the end, it was all clear.

Christian Bale is incredible as con-man Irving Rosenfeld, and, along with his partner, Sydney Prosser, played by Amy Adams, they are forced to work for FBI agent Richard DiMaso (Bradley Cooper) to aid in the arrest of corrupt politicians. It's a story of love, anger, and fooling people to the very end. Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence have smaller roles in the film, but are also very good performances. Renner plays Carmine Polito, mayor of Camden, New Jersey, who is one of those "corrupt politicians," and Lawrence plays Irving's wife Rosalyn, who has some of the funniest scenes and is highly unstable. Plus, Loius C.K. also has a hilarious role in the movie.

In addition, there's a cameo that's not to be missed.

The lies are spread around, hearts are broken, fights are had, and all of this makes American Hustle a really good time. It's only 2 hours and 20 minutes, but it went by really fast. The acting and direction is great, and everyone seemed like they just had a lot of fun doing it, so I totally recommend it.
