Introduction to inFAMOUS

The next huge game for the PS4 is right around the corner, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't play previous incarnations of the inFAMOUS series. After an okay first game, and a really awesome second game, the hyped-up third game will be released soon. Read on for thoughts.

inFAMOUS is an open world game where you play as Cole, who obtains lightning powers at the beginning of the game. This first installment is not exactly the best game ever, but it is often fun. As you progress through the game, Cole's powers go from being small to just being incredible. The enemies keep up as your progress, though, which keeps the game challenging. However, parts of the game are ridiculously packed with stuff so the framrate takes a huge dip, or just tedious, like collecting blast shards and trying to find all of them. The story and characters here are pretty cool, and there's some twists, but if you wanna get straight into the good stuff, then you can skip inFAMOUS 1 and go straight to the even better sequel.

inFAMOUS 2 is awesome. Not only did the graphics get a major revamp, but the powers were better, and the choice to be a hero or a villain felt like it was more capitalized on. In this game, going the hero route also added ice powers to Cole's arsenal. If you went down the villain road, you gained additional fire powers. The story was very cool and the enemies this time around weren't ordinary or dull like in the first game. From crazy "Militia Men" to huge monsters like in the shot above, inFAMOUS corrected all of the faults from the first game, except for climbing, which still took a lot of patience and tapping the X button. I'd highly suggest anyone with a PS3 go and try this.

Coming in March, is the new PS4 game, inFAMOUS: Second Son, a huge, first-party title that people have been waiting a long time for. In this, you don't play as Cole, but rather a new character named Delsin. From trailers so far, his powers seem pretty cool, and it looks like they added a super jump like in Prototype to get rid of the climbing issues that plagued the other games. It's going to be a real exciting time for PS4 owners and gaming in general when this comes out. I will be doing a lot of coverage on it when it comes out.

inFAMOUS is a really fun, open world, superhero-type game that needs to be played!
