My Top 10 Games of 2013 Part 2
Continuing from yesterday, here's the best games I've played this year. Also, I'll write down the other games I played that aren't in this list. It was a good year for games, but one game in particular really took it to the next level for me. Read on to find out.
#5. Batman: Arkham Origins (PS3)
This third game in the Arkham series wasn't developed by Rocksteady like the last two, but they took a cue from them and made another great Batman game. It tells a different backstory about Batman and his trials against Black Mask and his eight assassins. The story takes a turn about halfway through the story that makes it memorable, but it's always the combat that makes the Arkham games so satisfying. While it did get a weird tweaking for this game, it still remains as fluid as ever.
#4. Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)
The second SMT game on my list is the newest edition of the actual main series. This game was full of crazy features that made a play through take hours and hours. The bosses were satisfying, and the story can go four different ways. The conversations and battle system were great as well. SMT IV did everything right without being ridiculously cheap and difficult. It's kind of like Pokemon, but if you don't continuously get stronger monsters, you're not doing it right. Above all, SMT IV is just really cool. Tokyo's become some wasteland inhabited by demons and you're a character coming from above the ceiling.
#3. Pokemon Y Version (3DS)
Pokemon Y was a long time coming. The first Pokemon game in 3D in which you can freely move in any directions. While there wasn't a huge amount of new Pokemon (just over 70, I believe), there was the addition of Mega Evolutions to older Pokemon. The story was also really good this time around, which is odd to say for a Pokemon game. The game takes competitiveness up a notch by allowing people to train EVs more easily, as well. Other than that, the formula hasn't really been tampered with, but this is the biggest step up since full color in Ruby and Sapphire.
#2. Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4)
Really good graphics. Anyway, the flagship launch title for the PS4 is also the best game out for it so far. It's not only got good graphics, but the gameplay is so good for an FPS, and the game gives every feature of the new DualShock 4 a chance to shine. The multiplayer is hugely addicting, and holds a candle to Battlefield and CoD, in which Killzone is way more enjoyable. It's really a game that needs to be seen to be believed, and will probably be the game I play most until the end of March.
#1. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3)
It had to be. The gameplay, the style, the soundtrack, the characters... everything about this game was completely off the wall crazy and took everything to 110%. As far as enjoyable games go, MGR is my favorite game of 2013. I don't need to say anymore.
Here's the games that didn't make the list:
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX (PS3)
Mario and Luigi: Dream Team (3DS)
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)
Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS)
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS)
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja STORM 3 (PS3)
Anarchy Reigns (PS3)
Deadpool (PS3)
Tomb Raider (PS3)
DmC: Devil May Cry (PS3)
Injustice: Gods Among Us (PS3)
Resogun (PS4)
Contrast (PS4)
Well, here's to 2014 games. Coming up is my most anticipated Lightning Returns and inFAMOUS Second Son.
