Hunter x Hunter is Incredible
This isn't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill anime. These aren't regular, everyday characters. And things get pretty real, pretty fast. Hunter x Hunter is one of the greatest things I've ever watched, and maybe you'd enjoy it too. Read on for more.
For reference, I will be discussing the 2011 and still airing version of Hunter x Hunter. There's an older version with an English dub, but I have never seen it, and this version goes way past where the other ended.
Let me first say, whether you like anime or not, or have seen it or not, Hunter x Hunter demands to be seen. This is not a regular old shounen series. The cast will seem childish for the first few episodes, as will the plot, but then something happens. Hunter x Hunter turns into a crazy story where the over-the-top characters and their powers is just the beginning. Hunter x Hunter is an anime from the manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, the author of YuYu Hakusho.
First off, there's the main character, Gon, who begins the series aiming to become a "hunter," and perhaps one day fins his father. Then there's Killua, who has devastating abilities for a little kid. Kurapika is another of Gon's friends, who is becoming a hunter to fight against villains known as the Phantom Troupe, who massacred his people. Then, there's Leorio, who's in this for the money to support his medical endeavors. The villains are the absolute craziest, too, from the jester-like Hisoka to the absolutely insane members of the Phantom Troupe.
HxH is a story of survival and friendship, I'd say. The battles are absolutely some of the best in anime, and the whole thing just feels really epic. Even if you're just a casual watcher, I'd say HxH has something in it for everyone, and everyone can enjoy it. So check out a few episodes, and tell me what you think. Just don't judge it off of the first handful of episodes, because trust me, at the point I'm at (episode 53 at the time of me writing this), so much has gone down and it's been unbelievable.
It doesn't matter how old you are, Hunter x Hunter is a crazy anime, and one of the best ever.
