You Should See Clone Wars

Don't be so quick to judge a CGI-animated Star Wars series. While the movie prequel was nothing to brag about, the show hit some masterful points throughout its five seasons, including a controversial return of Darth Maul. Let me try to explain why Clone Wars is so good.

First of all, take all the thoughts in your head about this being a "kid's show," and toss them out. This is not a kid's show, and definitely one of the more questionable things that's been on Cartoon Network. Reruns are on Toonami now, though.

With that being said, if you like Star Wars, I feel that you'll also like this show. I've been a huge fan since I was a little kid, and this show, serving as a prequel to Episode III is every bit as good as the movies. At times, it's better, even. There are a few episodes here and there that just don't do it for you, but when the show has 108 aired episodes to date, there's bound to be a few that aren't quite up to par with the rest.

Clone Wars got cancelled from TV only because Disney now owns the right to Star Wars. Hugely disappointing news, but they plan to release what would have been like half of season 6 in some way, shape, or form, before airing the all new Star Wars Rebels TV series. Why they wouldn't continue with Clone Wars is beyond me. Even Darth Maul, what I would consider the show's biggest plot line to date, is being finished up in comic book format.

Clone Wars isn't exactly new. First we had the micro series cartoons from the creator of Samurai Jack, which started back in 2003. This series began towards the end of 2008. This picture would give you an idea of what to expect from the first season. The first season is mostly episodic with a few episodes having another part, or so. In season two, however, Clone Wars started developing huge story lines. By season 3, there were even bigger story lines that continued in the lair seasons, the biggest, of course, being Darth Maul and his brother.

The amount of detail and sheer love that gets put into the Clone Wars is also incredible. The animation got better and better each season, and is highly noticeable in the middle of season 3, where most of the character models for main characters got a massive facelift. The planets themselves are also works of art, from huge cities to a completely blank world in season 5. Clone Wars not only tells good stories, but is highly appealing to the eye.

A huge cast of new villains and heroes also flesh out the Star Wars universe like nothing that's ever been seen. With five seasons, and "bonus" episodes (Season 6) on the way, we'll find out more about behind the scenes plots that affected Clones and with comics, we'll se a conclusion to some of the best animated programming I've ever seen.

Hopefully I've piqued your interest. With that being said, I'd like to suggest a few episodes that really have it all, and make the Clone Wars a good show that it is.

Season 1:
- Rookies Episode 5
- Lair of Grevious Episode 10

Season 2:
- The Zilo Beast (arc) Episodes 18 and 19
- Boba Fett (arc) Episode 20, 21, and 22

Season 3:
- Nightsisters (arc) Episodes 12, 13, and 14
- Overlords (arc) Episodes 15, 16, 17
- Chewbacca (arc) Episodes 21 and 22

Season 4:
- Krell (arc) Episodes 7, 8, 9, and 10 (This is one of the best in the series.)
- Darth Maul (arc) Episodes 21 and 22

Season 5:
- Darth Maul Continued (arc) Episodes 1, 14, 15, 16
- Ahsoka (arc) Episodes 17, 18, 19, and 20

I'd consider these the best, and there's quite a lot of content here. The Darth Maul stuff is the very best, but I think the Krell arc may be a close second. Anyway, hope you're interested now. That's all for today.
